“Fear is a powerful enemy of our faith and a strong deterrent to the believer’s peace of mind… Faith in God keeps us from losing hope and helps us resist fear…yet faith needs time to mature…Fear disrupts faith and becomes the biggest obstacle to trusting and obeying God…Sometimes faith is the absence of fear. Other times faith may be choosing to believe God even when your heart is melting with fear…We can overcome fear by trusting God for His protection in our darkest hour.” (John Ortberg, Beth Moore, Life Application Study Bible, Psalm 3:1-2, Isaiah 8:11-15, Psalms 11:1-4, 1 Timothy 3:1-6)

“Trusting in God simply means you believe God will protect you. It means making a conscious effort to focus from your fear and onto God.” (Ed Strauss)

“Prayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant happiness, a protection against sadness…those who pray are protected from despair.” (St. John Chrysostom, St. Mark the Ascetic)

peace. This is the state of a person who rests in God completely for salvation and protection…Many believers have experienced this peace of God. It is not just positive thinking or willpower. It is a sense that no matter what happens, everything will ultimately be all right, even though it may not be at all right at the moment…That is the character of Christian peace. It is an inner calm and equilibrium but also a sense of God’s presence and an almost reason-transcending sense of His protection.” (Foundation Study Bible, Jude 1:2, (Pastor Timothy Keller)
