Faith (growing like compound interest)

“Faith operates a lot like compound interest. It may start small in our heart, but if we adopt a rule of prayer in our life that we practice daily despite the ups and downs of our feelings and emotions; sincerely embrace the sacramental life with an open heart and a true desire to draw closer to Christ, over time our faith will grow in ever increasing abundance and become solid as the hardest rock.” (Sacramental Living Blog)

“The condition of the heart is crucial, for the Lord states plainly that not every heart is ready to receive His seed – His truth. The word of the kingdom will grow only in the ready heart.” (Dynamis 7/14/2014)

“… the greatest gift of the Resurrection is the opportunity to know God. Striving for “knowledge of God” (1 Corinthians 15:34) creates the necessary spiritual environment in which our bodies, like planted seeds, may come alive to Him, for “God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body” (1 Corinthians 15:38). “Body” here refers to the self, including the physical body. The apostle is not describing an automatic process, but rather natural growth in Christ – a life which it is possible for us to attain. If we think of our bodies – ourselves – as seeds, we recall that certain seeds will only sprout unless they pass through fire. And as Saint Paul reminds us, “our God is a consuming fire” (Heb 12:29). If we strive to know Christ, braving the searing flames of obedience to follow Him, He will prepare for us “a body as He pleases” (1 Cor 15:38).” (Dynamis 7/31/2018)

"God is infinite and this process of growth in sanctity will go on forever, even in eternity." (Archimandrite Sergius)

“Good and evil both increase at compound interest. That is why the little decisions you and I make every day are of such infinite importance." (C. S. Lewis)
